Aunt's health problem fixed by plumber
Jan. 8th, 2005 04:53 pmLast post I was worrying about my aunt who was having assorted health problems including ugly films of her lungs. While we were waiting on the results, she was having trouble with her drains and brought in a plumber. My aunt's house has three levels - the main floor, an upper loftish half floor and a full basement. There's a bathroom in the basement that never gets used because the slope to the septic tank isn't enough for it work properly.
Our hero - da plumber - listens to what she tells him, looks things over briefly and heads for the basement. He comes back up. He tells her that the stool in the basement was dry and that was allowing the gases out of the septic tank to come back up through her drains. Oops.
My aunt has aired out her house and quit coughing. She also has more energy. And her lungs are clear on the ultrasound. (Thank you, God!)
When I was up there for Christmas, we'd noticed the occasional foul smell in the kitchen and blamed it on the fridge. I mean, like Kate & I did a really major throwing out stuff and scrubbing down of the fridge and the kitchen. Sheesh.
