ETA FOUND!!! Tony injured and trapped....

It was an older fic – I don’t recall if it was on AO3 or FFN…. Tony and the team were on a mission – unfortunately I don’t recall the circumstances of the mission other than it might have been somewhere in Europe. Tony was doing his Iron Man thing – helping and taking care of baddies. Something happens and he is ‘dropped’ or ‘falls’ down a crevasse or something similar. He’s pretty badly injured and trapped in a very difficult place to rescue him from. I think that JARVIS was still operational and after some effort manages to contact Cap and the rest of the Avengers…. I think….

Bruce and I think it was Cap – manage to finally get to Tony but they cannot remove him from the underground caves/caverns easily. I think they used the Iron Man armor to act as a ‘compression suit’ (help stop or slow internal bleeding) and to act as a ‘stretcher’ to get Tony out of the caves. Some areas are very tight not even easily passing the suit through much less have Bruce or Cap accompanying him.

They finally get him to an area where rescue services can then help get him the rest of the way to medical help. I’ve tried a few searches but there are so many MCU/Avengers stories out there I haven’t found it. Any help – pointers, ideas and/or links would be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance for any help.

"parsimonious" & Bujold's craft

Penric, from Lois McMaster Bujold's "Penric & Desdemona" stories in her "The World of the Five Gods," fka "The Chalion Saga," uses "parsimonious" in reference to his world's cosmology and metaphysics early in each story, and more often in the later stories, where he is older, and the teacher rather than the student. (As you know, "parsimonious" means an extreme frugality, careful to get everything possible from each resource and opportunity, not quite stinginess, but right on the edge.)

I recently re-read the "Penric & Desdemona" stories, and then read the newest, The Adventure of the Demonic Ox (2025), for the first time, felt sad at not having another in front of me, and so lapped all the way back -- well, chronologically, forward by a few hundred years -- to The Curse of Chalion (2001), the novel with which Bujold started this world, which I hadn't re-read in years.

I found "parsimonious" in the first paragraph of the first chapter of that first book. Chef's kiss.

Looking for a fic I read before on Tumblr. It was dark-ish stucky x reader. The reader was Tony's daughter forced to marry Steve and Bucky who were like brothers, not together. Steve was dating Sharon on the side and Bucky was with Natasha. It was a royalty/regency style fic. Multiple chapters

notes from my birthday month

Today I opened the front door to see if the mail had arrived, and found that the clump of sunflowers at the bottom of the first section of front steps was full of goldfinches, who exploded upward. They we unutterably beautiful, and so bright they seemed to shine with inner light.

It was a wonderful thing.

Thinking of Seasonsofdrabbles

I've been in a writing slump since the end of

fkficfest. I had expected

saturdaymorningex (where I ended up unmatchable) and

everywoman (which isn't happening this year) to help me re-engage.

Now, I'm thinking of trying

seasonsofdrabbles, which is coming right up, and overlaps some already-planned time off from work: Sign-ups close August 11, assignments out August 13, due August 23. The minimum required is just one drabble, the maximum required is three, and while I don't specialize in drabbles, I feel I should be able to deliver something enjoyable. Fingers crossed.

Nominations remain open through sign-ups, so I've just now added Dungeons and Dragons (Cartoon, 1983), Battlestar Galactica (1978), and The Journey to the West (classic Chinese novel) to the line-up, and added some characters for Highlander: The Series and The Legend of Zelda, which were already nominated.

Do you have any experience with this exchange?

Fannish options & enthusiasms | August 2025

Here are some recent fannish things I've happened to see and would like to share!

Spotlight: I feel that both Superman (2025) and Fantastic Four: First Steps (2025) are good movies and strongly recommend them to general audiences looking for a pleasant time at the cinema this summer. I have literary and fannish critiques of the execution of each (of course I do), yet I feel bad about critiquing at all. I so want them both to succeed! And I so wanted them both to be not just good, or very good, but indeed knock-my-socks-off great, and I don't love how the release proximity invites ranking... but that would have been present, anyway, as each has just about the same "job" not just as an IP entry but in its writers' and director's choices. ( Very light spoilers )

Sidelight: Did you know that Marvel Comics released a "prequel" comic (single issue) to the Fantastic Four: First Steps (2025) movie? The first print run sold out; I'm waiting for a copy from the second. It's not just any old prelude to the events of the movie, but covers the same ground as some of the cut footage. Specifically, it sets up ( mild spoiler )

Looking for a specific soulmate fic

I’ve been trying to track down this specific fic for years now. It’s a Steve Rogers/Tony Stark/Bucky Barnes pairing. A soulmate au we’re people had two different soulmate marks, one that showed you either how much danger your soulmate was in or if they were in danger (can’t remember which). The second was either anything you write on yourself appears on your soulmates skin, that or your thoughts appeared. I’m fairly certain it was the former.

I remember two specific scenes from the fic:

One where Tony gets written on his skin “is this really you” (from Steve when he wakes up, asking if it is Bucky) and Tony writes back that he’s not sure who this is and writes that this is the first time any writing has appeared on his skin. Steve writes back something along the lines of “you must be our third soulmate, sorry to keep you waiting.”

The second scene is set after Civil War. Steve and Bucky still don’t know that Tony is their soulmate and visa versa. Steve writes to Tony that he’s with their other soulmate. I remember Tony thinking that he’s a little bitter that his two soulmates are together without him. Tony writes back about how his danger meter keeps going off and how they’re gonna give him a heart attack. And Bucky writes back that Tony’s meter on their skin does the same.

It could be that I’m remembering two different fics, but I’m fairly confident both of these scenes were from the same fic. I think that this fanfic was only one or two chapter long when I first read it and wasn’t completed at the time. Because when I read it I don’t think they had found out that they (Steve and Bucky) were Tony’s soulmates yet.

I’m also fairly certain that I read this on Archive of Our Own. But I’ve literally searched under every Stucky pairing fic with a soulmate tag on there and still haven’t found it. So it might not be tagged properly. That or it’s been taken down. It could also be on another site, like fanfiction.net, as well.

If anybody knows the name of the fic, and where it’s posted (or if it has in fact been deleted), I would greatly appreciate it.
